‘Disappointed’: Cypress County council turns down Alberta inspection request

An effort by a Cypress County councillor to have a municipal inspection of the county carried out by the Alberta government failed on Wednesday after council voted against the motion.

Coun. Robin Kurpjuweit said previously a provincial review would help address a level of distrust from the public, bit did not divulge the specifics of what concerned him so much.

The motion to request an inspection failed 6-3.

“I am disappointed that the vote didn’t go through,” Kurpjuweit told CHAT News in a statement, saying he thought the meeting outside that item was productive.

“I will continue to work with council and push for the highest levels of governance that we can deliver,” he added.

“Like many of the councillors said today, I really would encourage our residents to pick up the phone and let your councillors know what’s important to you.”

Kurpjuweit is expected to give more information in a Thursday interview with CHAT News.
