Medicine Hat’s Allison Shulson is ready to start a new chapter of her life thanks to a $2-million win on the March 13 draw for Western 6/49.

She won with a ticket she purchased at a convenience store in Crescent Heights.

“[My partner and I] buy tickets every week, twice a week,” Shulson said while she was claiming her prize.

“When I checked [the ticket] on my phone, I couldn”t believe it. I was hyperventilating,” she laughed.

“My husband was working out of town, so I had to call him. I was just screaming. He thought I was having a heart attack!”

The couple said they are looking forward to travelling, but they’re welcoming a fifth grandchild soon. The two don’t plan to travel too far away before that happens.

“We like camping, and we have two big dogs – so we’re going to take them camping through B.C. all summer long,” Shulson said with a grin.

Shulson purchased her Western 6/49 ticket from Circle K located at 717 20 Street NE in Medicine Hat.

She won the jackpot by matching all six main numbers selected in the draw.
