SALTA Gymnastics Club competes at 2024 WAG Provincial Championships

SALTA Gymnastics Club Alberta Gymnastics Federation hosted the 2024 Women’s Artistic Gymnastics (WAG) Provincial Championships in Calgary this past weekend.

325 athletes from 33 Alberta gymnastics clubs competed at the event which included eight of Medicine Hat’s talented athletes from SALTA Gymnastics Club.

Athletes were judged within their own respective categories (age and level).

CCP Level 8 athlete, Chelsia Cooper, earned a silver medal in the Floor routine.

Cooper wrapped up the competition winning 8^th place All Around for her respective age category.

She was also awarded 7^th place in Vault, 9^th place on Beam, and 12^th place in the Uneven Bars exercise.

CCP Level 6 athlete, Camryn Kingsley, earned a bronze medal in the Uneven Bars exercise.

Kingsley finished 5^th place All Around for her respective age category and was also awarded 4^th place in the Floor routine, 6^th place in Vault, and 8^th place in the Beam exercise.

Although the remaining CCP Level 6 athletes did not make the podium, they each had stellar performances.

Many of the athletes achieved personal bests or other victories such as landing a new beam skill for the first time in a competition.

Adriana Mealey, secured 11^th All Around (9^th on Vault, 10^th on Beam, 11^th on Uneven Bars, 12^th on Floor).

Kenzie Christensen finished 12^th All Around (9^th on Uneven Bars, 11^th on Vault, 12^th on Beam, 14^th on Floor).

Alexis Hayward ranked 13^th All Around (6^th on Beam, 11^th on both Vault and Uneven Bars, 13^th on Floor).

Kapri Wirth was 14^th All Around (11^th on Floor, 13^th on both Vault and Uneven Bars, 14^th on Beam).

Skylar Berner rounded out the competition earning 15^th All Around (12^th on Bars and Floor, 15^th on Beam and Vault).
