SALTA Gymnastics Club competes at 2024 WAG Provincial Championships

SALTA Gymnastics Club Alberta Gymnastics Federation hosted the 2024 Women’s Artistic Gymnastics (WAG) Provincial Championships in Calgary this past weekend.

325 athletes from 33 Alberta gymnastics clubs competed at the event which included eight of Medicine Hat’s talented athletes from SALTA Gymnastics Club.

Athletes were judged within their own respective categories (age and level).

CCP Level 8 athlete, Chelsia Cooper, earned a silver medal in the Floor routine.

Cooper wrapped up the competition winning 8th place All Around for her respective age category.

She was also awarded 7th place in Vault, 9th place on Beam, and 12th place in the Uneven Bars exercise.

CCP Level 6 athlete, Camryn Kingsley, earned a bronze medal in the Uneven Bars exercise.

Kingsley finished 5th place All Around for her respective age category and was also awarded 4th place in the Floor routine, 6th place in Vault, and 8th place in the Beam exercise.

Although the remaining CCP Level 6 athletes did not make the podium, they each had stellar performances.

Many of the athletes achieved personal bests or other victories such as landing a new beam skill for the first time in a competition.

Adriana Mealey, secured 11th All Around (9th on Vault, 10th on Beam, 11th on Uneven Bars, 12th on Floor).

Kenzie Christensen finished 12th All Around (9th on Uneven Bars, 11th on Vault, 12th on Beam, 14th on Floor).

Alexis Hayward ranked 13th All Around (6th on Beam, 11th on both Vault and Uneven Bars, 13th on Floor).

Kapri Wirth was 14th All Around (11th on Floor, 13th on both Vault and Uneven Bars, 14th on Beam).

Skylar Berner rounded out the competition earning 15th All Around (12th on Bars and Floor, 15th on Beam and Vault).
