Top 5 things to do at the Medicine Hat Public Library in April

Apr 1, 2024 | 1:20 PM

The library is a wonderful place to find new books, but there’s more going on than just flipping through pages.

Here’s the top five things to do at the Medicine Hat Public Library for April 2024.

Easter Break Movies

April 1-7, 2 p.m.

Join us in the library theatre each day during the school break for a family friendly movie. Rise of the Guardians (April 1), Migration (April 2), Toopy and Binoo The Movie (April 3), Wish (April 4), Wonka (April 5) and The Marvels (April 6). The week ends with Toy Story (April 7) during our usual Sunday Family Day and we’ll show the rest of the Toy Story movies on Sundays until the end of the month.

Poetry Month Kits

Available starting April 1

Embrace the power of words with this month’s Poetry Kit. With carefully selected materials and inspiring prompts, tweens will have the tools to pen their own verses, capturing their unique voices and emotions. Kits are for tweens ages 10-12. Act fast, as there’s a limited quantity available, and it’s first-come, first-served. Available at the Kinsmen Children’s Library Desk.

MHPL Walking Group

Each Wednesday, 1:30 p.m.

Let’s walk and talk books! Meet near the outdoor book drop and let’s head to the trails for a 30-minute walk. Bring your walking poles if you have them and dress for the weather.

Plant Exchange

April 13, 2 p.m.

Bring your unwanted plants or cuttings to the library in exchange for another plant or cutting. We’ll be welcoming the Medicine Hat and District Horticultural Society to help patrons transplant their plants and give advice on plant care.

LEGO with Big Brothers Big Sisters of Medicine Hat

April 26, 10 a.m.

Master Builders Wanted! Our friends for BBBS are hosting a morning of PD Day Lego fun at the Library. For ages six years and up. Please note that children under 10 need to be accompanied by a parent or other adult caregiver.
