Tanisha Preston, a first-year educator at Southview Community School, has been nominated for a teachers’ award.

The Medicine Hat Public School Board’s trustees nominated Preston for the Edwin Parr Teacher Award, a provincial award that honours six educators who teach the elementary and high school grades.

“Miss Preston’s dedication, passion, and commitment to fostering an inclusive and enriching learning environment make her an ideal candidate for this recognition,” the school board said in a news release.

“Miss Preston’s approach to teaching goes beyond imparting knowledge; it encompasses a deep understanding of her students’ individual needs and a sincere desire to see each of them thrive,” it added.

“Miss Preston’s teaching aptitude is evident in her ability to simplify complex concepts while seamlessly integrating real life situations and multi curricular areas into her lessons.”

The deadline for the Alberta School Boards Association Awards is March 18.
