Medicine Hat Tigers to face Red Deer Rebels in first round of playoffs

The Medicine Hat Tigers have their playoff dance partner locked in for the opening round of the 2024 WHL Playoffs.

The Medicine Hat Tigers and the Red Deer Rebels will square off, starting their postseason journey on March 29.

This confirmation came after Swift Current’s triumph over Red Deer with a score of 6-3, cementing the Tigers as the fourth seed and the Rebels as the fifth seed in the eastern conference.

According to Gino De Paoli and the Medicine Hat Tigers website, this matchup marks the first playoff encounter between the two teams since 2015, when Medicine Hat emerged victorious over Red Deer in five battles.

During the regular season, the Tigers held a 4-2-0-0 record against the Rebels, with two of their wins coming in overtime.

Game one is slated for March 29 at 7:00 p.m., hosted at Co-op Place in Medicine Hat.

As the series progresses, game three will see the action move to the Peavey Mart Centrium in Red Deer to April 2.
