The Medicine Hat Cubs played its last game of the season Sunday night.
Headed into the weekend, the 24-9-5 Cubs were hosting the North Division champions Sylvan Lake Wranglers.
The Wranglers came to Medicine Hat up in the series two games to zero.
The Cubs won 4-3 on Saturday, bringing them one game closer to forcing a deciding game five, but ultimately fell short, losing 4-2 Sunday night in front of a full Kinplex crowd.
Head coach Randy Wong said that losing this weekend stings, but that he’s looking forward to bringing this post-season experience to next season.
“You just gotta make sure you assemble the right group of guys again and I think we did that this year,” Wong said.
“We try and find that same type of character next year and bring it back,” he said.
“You hope that for the guys that return, that this stings throughout the season, that they remember this and that they get another chance this year.”
The Sylvan Lake Wranglers will face off against the Carstar Okotoks Bisons.
