The Brooks Bandits of the BC Hockey League have announced Shattuck-St. Mary’s and NHL Draft Eligible defenceman Austin Moline has signed with the team for the 2024-25 season.

Moline, 18, is a six foot four inches, 191 pound, right-shot defenceman in his third season at Shattuck in Faribault, MN.

He’s tallied 26 points (7G, 19A) in 47 games in his second year on the Prep team.

“I chose the Brooks Bandits because the organization has proven the development of their players to jump to the next level,” Moline said.

“I like the small town and the support of the community. The facilities and training go unmatched.”

The 2005-born defenceman is ranked 182 amongst North American skaters on NHL Central Scouting Midterm Rankings. He is committed to Northern Michigan University.

“Austin is a big defender that skates well and has a presence on the ice,” said Bandits head coach and general manager Ryan Papaioannou.

“He comes to us well trained from a great program at Shattuck. He can create offence while using his frame to defend with strength. We are looking forward to working with him prior to his college career at Northern Michigan.”

The Bandits return to the ice on Friday, March 8 when they visit Okotoks for a rematch with the Oilers. Game time is 7 p.m., with live play-by-play available on Real Country 105.7 FM.

Next home game is Saturday, March 9 when the Bandits host the Blackfalds Bulldogs at 7 p.m.
