Medicine Hat man facing multiple charges after shooting victim appears at hospital E-R

The appearance of a man suffering from a gunshot wound in the emergency room of the Medicine Hat Regional Hospital last Sunday, triggered an investigation that has resulted in charges against a city man.

Hospital staff followed procedure and reported the injury to the Medicine Hat City Police Service.

Investigators obtained a search warrant for a residence on Bannon Avenue Southwest on Tuesday, where they say they confiscated a restricted firearm, ammunition, a small amount of controlled substances and a number of prohibited weapons.

The 44 year old suspect remains in police custody pending a court appearance on March 13.

He’s facing multiple charges related to firearms and weapons offenses, obstructing police, possession of a controlled substance and multiple breaches of firearm prohibition orders.
