Cubs manage two wins in hard-fought playoff games against Coaldale Copperheads

It was two games and two overtime wins for the Medicine Hat Cubs over the weekend, in the South Division Semi-Finals.

According to captain of the Cubs, Callen Prosofsky, they had hard fought battles against the Coaldale Copperheads.

“They’re a force out there. They’re a hard hitting, hard working team,” said Prosofsky.

In the best of five game, the first game was played here at home.

The Cubs ended the first period down two, but by the end of the third period, they were able to tie it up and force overtime.

Cubs Caleb Garrecht scored the overtime winner, only 13 seconds in.

In the second game, the teams were tied at three, and went into double overtime, before Caleb Garrecht scored another game winner.

Prosofsky says the fans showed up in numbers to support the Cubs playoff run.

“It was electric in here and it is pretty special to come here and see the ‘plex all full like that,” Prosofsky said.

Now, the Cubs get two days off before they hit the ice again at Kinplex.

Winning a playoff series in front of their home fans is something Prosofsky has done before and it’s something he hopes to do again on Wednesday.
