Online reservations for the 2024 camping season at Gas City Campground and Echo Dale Regional Park will open Feb. 1 at 7 a.m.

However, the season at Gas City Campground will be delayed by a few weeks, as crews complete some infrastructure work from last summer.

Kara Brake, business and innovation coordinator with the City of Medicine Hat, said the work will delay opening Gas City Campground until possibly May 31.

“Not knowing what conditions are going to look like over the winter we have had to delay that for about a month,” Brake told CHAT News.

The work involves completion of installation of a back flow preventer, a project Brake hopes will be completed earlier than expected.

Upgrades to the irrigation system will also require closure of a small part of the campground in the north east section all summer.

However, there are 10 camping sites at Echo Dale regional park, that feature a gravel pad, fire pits , picnic tables and picturesque views from beside the South Saskatchewan river.

Brake said opening day for registration is always busy and advised going online through the City of Medicine Hat web page as the best way to complete reservations.
