Canadian tight end Tanner McLachlan to miss Senior Bowl with injury

Jan 23, 2024 | 9:24 AM

Theo Johnson will be the lone Canadian tight end at the 2024 Reese’s Senior Bowl.

Jim Nagy, the Senior Bowl’s executive director, said in an interview Tuesday that Tanner McLachlan, of Lethbridge, Alta., won’t be participating in this year’s event due to an unspecified injury.

The six-foot-five, 240-pound McLachlan, a tight end at the University of Arizona, had accepted an invitation to participate in the Senior Bowl. He was to join Johnson, a native of Windsor, Ont., who played collegiately at Penn State, among the tight ends at Mobile, Ala.

Isaiah Adams of Ajax, Ont., a six-foot-five 320-pound offensive lineman at Illinois, will participate in the Senior Bowl, which will be played Feb. 3 after a week of practices.

The Senior Bowl is an American college football all-star contest that annually showcases the top NFL draft prospects.
