Medicine Hat Cubs confidence high heading into two-game weekend

Jan 19, 2024 | 3:47 PM

The Medicine Hat Cubs have started 2024 with three straight wins.

They have entered the second half of the season with a distinct edge over their competitors, according to assistant captain Darnell Glasgo.

“Our bond is really close,” Glasgo told CHAT News.

“Seeing everybody’s faces gives us a little more energy boost compared to [the other teams], they didn’t get that same memo and we know what team we have and we are ready to kind of take it to the next step here.”

The Cubs will go for a fourth straight win as they take on the Cannex Cochrane Generals at the Kinplex Centre on Friday.

On Saturday, the Cubs will take a road trip to Strathmore to play the Wheatland Kings.

The Cubs will play only southern teams from here on out until the regular season ends in February,

That schedule doesn’t seem to be a concern for Cubs defenseman Jamal Shaw.

“I definitely will say we’re one of the top teams in the south,” Shaw said.

“[I’m] not too worried about anyone in the south, everyone should be worried about us.”

Friday’s game starts at 8:30 p.m. at Kinplex Arena and tickets can be bought at the door.
