Ukraine’s Anna Voloshyna named new head coach of Canadian artistic swim team

Jan 15, 2024 | 8:05 AM

MONTREAL — Anna Voloshyna is the new head coach of Canada’s artistic swim team, but doesn’t start the job until after February’s world aquatics championships.

The Ukrainian is an assistant coach for the U.S. team and her contract with the U.S. federation includes the world championship in Doha, Qatar.

Voloshyna will join the Canadian team based in Montreal following the world championship, Canada Artistic Swimming said Monday in a statement.

The world championship is a last-chance qualifier for the summer’s Olympic Games in Paris. Canada can earn a berth by finishing among the top five countries not already qualified in the team event.

Canada Artistic Swimming parted company with its previous head coach in June 2023.

Voloshyna, 32, won 10 world championship medals for Ukraine as an athlete. She’s coached athletes from Ukraine, Mexico and the U.S.
