Players from the Medicine Hat Tigers showed up to help out at Medicine Hat’s Root Cellar Food and Wellness Hub on Wednesday.

The players were happy to give their time in an impactful way.

“It’s really cool to have an impact on the community,” Tigers’ defenseman Dru Krebs told CHAT News.

“Being able to make someone’s day or see them prosper from what we do is really cool and really satisfying as a person.”

Medicine Hat Tigers defenseman Dru Krebs and his teammates assist at the Root Cellar every few weeks.

On Wednesday, they spent time engaging with fans and helping with small tasks around the food bank.

Executive director Melissa Mullis appreciates not only the positive experience for clients, but also the much-needed support for the organization in the new year.

“The Root Cellar and I think food banks across Alberta really notice a big influx of people in January,” Mullis said.

“After Christmas people are a little bit more strapped.”

“It’s definitely a time where we need donations and we need support because our numbers are definitely higher.”
