The Taber Police Service (TPS) has charged two youths with vandalism in connection to multiple reported incidents on Christmas.

On the evening of December 25, 2023, the TPS received reports of outdoor Christmas decorations being vandalized on front yards in the town.

Police said multiple suspects entered properties and destroyed decorations by “slashing inflatables, pulling down lights, and breaking displays”. The incidents reportedly resulted in thousands of dollars in damages.

On December 31, police located the youth suspects and made two arrests. In addition, two other suspects were identified shortly after.

Three of the youths, from Vauxhall and Coaldale, will be dealt with pursuant to the Youth Criminal Justice Act, while an 18 year-old man from Vauxhall had his case brought to the Crown Prosecutor’s office, for considerations on charges or Alternative Measures recommendations.

The suspects’ names are not being released.
