Here’s what to do with your Christmas tree in Medicine Hat

As many Hatters found out this week, the holidays are over and daily routines are back.

While new gifts are being enjoyed and leftovers consumed, those who brought a fresh, green Christmas tree into their homes could now have a dying plant in their living rooms — or they will soon.

The City of Medicine Hat is here to help with its annual free Christmas tree recycling program until the end of January.

Here’s what you need to know to recycle your Christmas tree:

1. IS IT REAL?

Make sure it’s real. This may seem like common sense but the city has emphasized it’s only real Christmas trees that should be recycled at these locations.

2. BACK TO ITS ROOTS

Return the tree to its natural roots by removing all stands, tinsel, decorations and plastic bags.

3. DROP IT OFF

Head to one of these three locations to drop off the tree:

Or, alternatively, trees can be dropped off for compost at the Waste Management Facility.
