Dec 28, 2023 | 2:32 PM

Several charges were levelled against a pair of Calgary residents on Thursday after police discovered $100,000 in cocaine as it executed search warrants earlier this month.

The RCMP’s organized crime unit on Dec. 6 searched an apartment that was used as a storage facility for a cocaine trafficking operation.

The unit also searched and seized a Toyota RAV 4 and a Land Rover Range Rover.

The searches turned up the 1.2 kilogram of cocaine as well as a loaded nine millimetre handgun and $180,000 in cash, the RCMP reported.

The suspects — a 31-year-old and a 28-year-old — were arrested and charged with a series of crimes, including:

  • controlled substance possession for the purpose of trafficking;
  • controlled substance possession;
  • possession of property obtained by crime;
  • possession of a prohibited weapon;
  • possession of a firearm knowing it’s prohibited;
  • contravention of storage regulations.

The two charged are scheduled to appear in Calgary provincial court on Jan. 12, police said.

The RCMP’s Federal Serious and Organized Crime unit also thanked the Calgary Police Service for its support throughout the investigation.
