AHS shares tips to help combat flu season

Dec 21, 2023 | 2:26 PM

In a release, Alberta Health Services has provided a list of tips for residents to help limit the spread of germs during respiratory virus season.

AHS suggests:

  • Wash your hands thoroughly and often with soap and warm water after coughing, sneezing, using tissues or the washroom, and before eating or preparing food.
  • Cover your nose and mouth with a tissue when sneezing or coughing. If you don’t have a tissue, always cough or sneeze into your arm, not into your hands.
  • Keep your hands and fingers away from your eyes, nose, and mouth.
  • Regularly clean and disinfect surfaces that are touched often, such as doorknobs light switches and counters.
  • Stay home when sick from work, school, social activities, and visiting anyone in care facilities.

In the same release, AHS also reminded residents that they still offer influenza and COVID-19 vaccinations free of charge, through local pharmacies and doctor offices to all residents six months or older.
