MEDICINE HAT, AB – For many families, pets are an important part of Christmas, some even getting their own presents and stockings.

For the animals that don’t have a home for the holiday’s, the Medicine Hat SPCA is hosting it’s annual Christmas Party for the Animals.

On Saturday, the public is invited into the SPCA for snacks, hot chocolate, raffles and door prizes.

Every animal at the shelter will have their own stocking that people can fill with donations. Hatters can also meet the animals and adopt a new best friend.

The shelter director, Kaylee Getz, says the shelter is full, as usual. Many cats are up for adoption, like Quirkle, who’s looking for somewhere to call home for the holidays.

“He’s about three months old, he is an adorable little love snuggle bug,” Getz tells CHAT News, as she holds Qwirkle. “He actually has a little sore eye that he’s been on medications for since coming into us, but it’s showing lots of improvements and it definitely doesn’t slow him down to play and interact with his friends in the room.”

On December 1st, the SPCA also opened for general visits again, for anyone wanting to hang out with the animals.

The SPCA is currently in need of these donations from the public:
