Teddy Bear Toss back in CO-OP Place Saturday

MEDICINE HAT, AB – Get your throwing arms ready Tigers fans, because the annual Medicine Hat Tigers Teddy Bear Toss is on Saturday.

“It’s usually a pretty good atmosphere, I mean, it’s something special,” says captain of the Tigers, Tyler MacKenzie. “Not only do we want to give back, but for the fans, it’s a chance for them to kind of get to the community as well. And it’s something we want everyone to come enjoy and we want everyone to take part in it.”

The very first goal scored by the Medicine Hat Tigers will trigger the Teddy Bear Frenzy. Fans are encouraged to bring brand new teddy bears or winter gear to throw on the ice.

Teddies will be donated and split between various organizations, like the Medicine Hat women’s shelter.

Select players, including captain Tyler MacKenzie, will bring some teddies to the hospital, hoping to brighten some children’s day.

“The smile on their faces is so big and the smile on our faces is always huge, I mean, it’s a pretty fun day,” says MacKenzie “We get to go there and we get to drop off bears to everyone and it’s super awesome, just being able to see everyone and interact with everyone.”

The game is Saturday at 7pm against the Prince Albert Raiders.
