‘More service, longer operating hours’: New ridesharing service comes to Medicine Hat

Nov 20, 2023 | 4:33 PM

MEDICINE HAT, AB – Out with the old, in with the new.

The two-year-old ridesharing company 24/7 Rideshare Service has been acquired by Uride, which already operates in British Columbia, Ontario and other provinces.

Uride founder and CEO Cody Ruberto said Monday the acquisition will mark a big improvement for both drivers and passengers in Medicine Hat.

Former 24/7 Rideshare chief executive Trevor Penner is remaining to help manage Uride’s services in Medicine Hat — and Ruberto hopes the drivers feel welcome to come onboard Uride as well.

“We’re super, super excited to team up and to keep working with Trevor and all the incredible drivers in Medicine Hat ,” Ruberto told CHAT News.

For Medicine Hat users, it means better service.

“There’ll be more service [and] longer operating hours,” Ruberto said.

That improved service is helped by strengthened support for part-time drivers.

“We’re going to be covering the commercial insurance for all drivers so if someone wants to come on and work even five to 10 hours a week, they can do that,” Ruberto said.

“They won’t have the burden of that extra expense every month.”

Uride is offering 50 per cent off rides until Dec. 3 with the promotion code “URIDE247”.
