MEDICINE HAT, AB – BATUS Park is closing down for about two days so the City of Medicine Hat can prepare it for the holiday season.

The downtown park will be closed from 7 a.m. on Tuesday to 5 p.m. on Wednesday as workers dress up the large evergreen tree in lights.

The city said motorists can expect minor traffic disruptions on the southbound westernmost lane on Sixth Avenue Southeast on the morning of Nov. 14 and from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. on Nov. 15.

Drivers turning from First Street Southeast to Sixth Avenue Southeast should use caution and be prepared for traffic congestion.

The sidewalk on the west side of Sixth Avenue Southeast from First Street Southeast to Second Street Southeast will be closed while work is in progress.

Pedestrians and drivers are reminded to obey signs around the work zone and allow crews the space to work safely, city staff said.
