Oct 24, 2023 | 11:40 AM

Medicine Hat, AB–Travellers heading east into Saskatchewan are advised to check road conditions before venturing out.

The Highways Hotline in Saskatchewan is reporting winter conditions on many highways including the # 1.

RCMP says so far, the call centre has received approximately 36 reports of weather-related traffic issues from across the province. These include multiple motor vehicle collisions, as well as vehicles stuck in the ditch.

The westbound lane of Highway #1 is blocked near Belle Plaine due to multiple semis hitting guardrails.

There is also a serious collision on Highway #33, near Kronau.

Detours are anticipated to be in place for several hours in both areas.

Motorists are asked to slow down and follow the direction of emergency personnel on scene.
