Event aims to help caregivers share stories and identify gaps in services
chatMEDICINE HAT — The founder of the Caregivers Lighthouse group in Medicine Hat is looking to build on the August Community Conversation, as the group will host a community discussion later this month.
Lorna Scott, who is the author of a book titled ” Walking the Journey Together…Alone, Finding Peace, Hope and Joy in the Middle of the Sh**” is bringing caregivers and local service provides together to help determine the current wants and needs of family caregivers.
“Most family caregivers don’t identify themselves as caregivers,” says Scott in a release.
“The stress slowly builds and they don’t realize they need help until they find themselves at the doctor because they are sick. The Community Discussion workshop gives them the chance to meet other caregivers and share stories and ideas so that we can identify the gaps in services for caregivers. That way we can move forward and provide the best services and resources with the limited funding available”.
