MEDICINE HAT — The clock is ticking on an effort to recall Medicine Hat Mayor Linnsie Clark.

The city of Medicine Hat has received official notice of a mayoral recall petition in accordance with the municipal government act.

A notice of the recall petition has been posted on the city of Medicine Hat web page, as required under the Municipal Government Act.

The process for recalling a municipal official outlined under the Recall Act.

An Albertan may apply to their municipality’s Chief Administrative Officer for a petition to recall the municipal official they feel is not upholding their responsibilities.

Once approved, the applicant has 60 days to gather signatures from eligible voters comprising 40 per cent of the population of the municipality.

If the petition is successful, the Chief Administrative Officer would make a declaration at the next council meeting.

The official would be removed at that time.
