Road work to delay traffic in southwest corner of the city

Oct 7, 2023 | 1:00 PM

MEDICINE HAT — The city of Medicine Hat is advising motorists to expect delays due to road repairs on Sierra Boulevard SW starting on Tuesday, October 10.

Traffic on that road between South Ridge Drive and Sunrise Gate will be restricted to one lane in either direction due to the road work.

It is recommended that motorists take into consideration the anticipated delay and adjust their commute times accordingly.

To help reduce the congestion in the area, the signal timing at the intersection of Sierra Boulevard SW/Strachan Road and South Ridge Drive will be altered.

While construction contractors are in the area, work will also begin to widen the existing Saamis Heights Emergency Access. Pedestrian use of the trail in the area will be impacted during this time.

The city says the construction will begin on Tuesday, weather permitting.
