NHL unveils Flames and Oilers Heritage Classic jerseys

The NHL has unveiled the jerseys the Calgary Flames and Edmonton Oilers will wear during the Heritage Classic game next month.

The Flames jersey was inspired by the Calgary Stampeders hockey team of the 1950s and 60s. The inspiration for the Oilers jersey was drawn from the Edmonton Mercurys team that won gold in the 1952 Olympics.

A Battle of Alberta logo is on the inside neck of both jerseys.

The Heritage Classic is scheduled for Oct. 29 at Edmonton’s Commonwealth Stadium.
