MHTnow transit service going back to separate zones

Sep 26, 2023 | 3:34 PM

MEDICINE HAT, AB – Medicine Hat Transit is making changes to its on-demand service so it can meet as many rider requests as possible.

Starting on Oct. 2, MHTnow will transition back to its original travel zones, separating the central and north zones in the city. Riders going between the two zones will have to book two MHTnow trips and transfer at the downtown transit terminal.

“This change allows us to maximize our capacity, ensuring that we can accommodate more riders as the demand grows,” says Gord Dykstra, transit services manager. “Additionally, it’s vital to re-acquaint our loyal commuters with the pre-COVID travel patterns, providing a seamless transition as ridership picks up.”

The MHTnow service is available weekday evenings from 6:45-10:45 p.m. in the north and central neighbourhoods and a Sunday service, from 8:15 a.m.-7:15 p.m. On-demand service can be booked through the mobile app from the Apple or Play store.
