The Medicine Hat Tigers are off to a 2-0 start after winning both halves of a home-and-home season-opening weekend with the Calgary Hitmen.

Newly-minted captain Tyler MacKenzie led the way on Friday scoring two goals in the 4-1 victory in Calgary.

At the other end of the ice, Evan May turned aside 35 shots to get the win.

The Tigers gave their home fans plenty to cheer about early on Saturday, scoring three times in the first 6:12 and rolling to a 5-3 win.

Andrew Basha scored twice and added an assist, while Cayden Lindstrom scored once and had two helpers. Evan May turned aside 22 shots for his second win.

The Tigers are on the road in Red Deer to face the Rebels on Friday before returning to Co-op Place to battle the Saskatoon Blades on Saturday. Puck drop is 7 p.m. both nights.
