Taste of Nations returns to Brooks: A culinary world tour for your tastebuds

Sep 22, 2023 | 3:22 PM

BROOKS, AB – If you’re wanting to give your tastebuds a whirlwind journey around the globe, Taste of Nations is back tomorrow in Brooks.

As a part of Alberta Culture Days, culinary offerings from 17 diverse countries will be available for purchase. The event will feature both established restaurants as well as community-made food just for the event. There will also be cultural performances on stage.

Lisa Tiffin is the manager of community development for the city of Brooks. She says last year they had 2,000 to 3,000 people attend, a beloved event by residents. For the restaurants, this gives them the chance to promote their business and share their culture.

“48% of our overall population is a visible minority, and 35% of them are immigrants to Canada,” says Tiffin. “We’re really lucky in that way, where we get this amazing cultural diversity that we see every day in the community, in our facilities, in our schools. But we don’t necessarily really get to understand and learn about those cultures, so that’s what Taste to Nations is in a big way.”

The event is free to get into and each vendor will set food prices for their booths. The event will be held in the JBS Canada Centre from 11:00am to 2:00 pm.
