Bobcat spotted in Ross Glen
MEDICINE HAT, AB – Video of a bobcat near Rice Drive SE in Ross Glen caused a stir after it was posted Wednesday evening on Facebook in the Medicine Hat Roast and Toast page.
The Government of Alberta website says that bobcat sightings are rare but are increasing in parts of southern Alberta. They are naturally shy of humans but if they live in or near human development they may lose their fear of people and the noises of the city.
Bobcats are about twice the size of a domestic cat. They have a bobbed tail that gives them their name, black-tufted ears and dark markings for camouflage.
They are normally most active at sunrise and sunset and feed mostly on rabbits, hares and other small mammals like mice and squirrels.
