Rattlers cross-country runner Becky Ross strikes again at Calgary meet
MEDICINE HAT, AB – According to a Rattlers press release, the Rattlers cross-country team competed in ACAC #2, the Jordan Fish Open, at West Confederation Park in Calgary last Saturday. Becky Ross of the Rattlers dominated, clocking in at 23:57 on a 6 km course in hot conditions, securing first place. Last weekend, she also won the ACAC XC #1 in Edmonton.
Maddy Scrimger secured her second podium finish this season, taking third place, just 50 seconds behind Ross. Other Rattlers women participants included Pyper Gill (16th), Mizuki Iwata (20th), Annika Marshall (31st), and Kabri Stickel (33rd). Additionally, inclusive education runner Joanne Gonzales completed 4 km of the course. The MHC women collectively claimed second place, with Red Deer Polytechnic (RDP) leading and Lethbridge College securing third.
In the men’s 8 km race, the Rattlers achieved their best-ever placement in a full-field ACAC race, finishing in fourth place. Veteran runners Harrison Lawson and Shintaro Iwata led the MHC team, taking 17th and 19th places, respectively. RDP won the men’s race ahead of Lethbridge College and the host school SAIT.
