City looking to fill board and committee vacancies

MEDICINE HAT, AB – The City of Medicine Hat is inviting residents to serve on various community boards, commissions and committees.

The roles offer residents a unique opportunity to contribute to their community by advising on key policy matters and decisions, says the city.

Available vacancies:

  • Assessment Review Board: 2 positions
  • Combative Sports Commission: 3 positions
  • Community Vibrancy Advisory Board: 5 positions
  • Municipal Planning Commission: 3 positions
  • Police Commission: 2 positions
  • Public Library Board: 4 (3-year terms) and 1 (1-year term)
  • Subdivision & Development Appeal Board: 1 position
  • Heritage Resources Working Group: 3 positions
  • Working Group for Accessibility & Inclusion: Up to 4 (3-year terms), 2 (2-year terms)

Eligibility:

  • Must be a resident of Medicine Hat (Public Library Board is an exception)
  • Must be willing to undergo records check for Police Commission applicants
  • All terms are for three years unless otherwise indicated

To apply, download the handbook and application form from the city website or pick them up at the city clerk department on the third floor of city hall. Fill out the application form, attach a resume and submit it by 4:30 p.m. on Nov. 1.
