LETHBRIDGE, AB – The Government of Alberta has opened nominations for the 2023 Minister’s Seniors Service Awards.

For 25 years, the awards have celebrated individuals, businesses and non-profits that support seniors, lead the way for services and contribute to strong communities.

Jason Nixon, minister of seniors, community and social services said, “Seniors across our province deserve to live vibrant lives with dignity and respect. We want to acknowledge the local heroes and helpers who dedicate their time and energy to support seniors.”

Nixon added, “These people are in our communities, our workplaces and even just down the block. They deliver groceries, help seniors get to their appointments, make our communities more accessible and so much more.”

In total, nine awards will be presented. Nominations are assessed based on volunteer work, philanthropic efforts, innovation and outstanding service.

The deadline for nominations is Nov. 15. Recipients will be recognized at a ceremony in March 2024. Nominations can be submitted online at the provincial government website.

Since 1998, the awards have celebrated 181 individuals and non-profit organizations that serve seniors.
