Medicine Hat Waves swimmer makes three podiums at nationals

A Medicine Hat Waves swimmer is among the best in Canada in her age group.

Rowynn Biffart swam her way to a pair of silver medals and one bronze at the 2023 Speedo Canadian Swimming Championships held in Toronto at the start of August.

The 14-year-old won silver in the 100m and 200m breaststroke and bronze in the 200m individual medley. She also had two other top 10 finishes in her eight swims during the week.

“She was able to compete and succeed against the country’s top 13-14 swimmers and represented Waves and the Medicine Hat Community with an amazing week,” says coach Blair Hughes in an email. “I think Rowynn most enjoyed the various {stuffed} chickens that were given to medal winners and if you ask her I believe she has named them all.”
