Severe thunderstorm watch again for Medicine Hat and area
Medicine Hat is under a severe thunderstorm watch on Monday afternoon.
Environment and Climate Change Canada says conditions are favourable for the development of severe thunderstorms that may be capable of producing strong wind gusts. The weather service says thunderstorms will move across the area early this afternoon.
Severe thunderstorm watches have been issued for Medicine Hat-Bow Island-Suffield, Cypress Hills Provincial Park-Foremost and Brooks-Strathmore-Vulcan areas.
Special air quality statements are also in effect for the same regions, much of central Alberta and into southwestern Saskatchewan. Smoke from wildfires in B.C. and northern Alberta is causing poor air quality and reduced visibility. Relief from the smoke is expected by tonight for most regions, says Environment Canada.
