LETHBRIDGE, AB – A vineyard just 20 minutes outside of Lethbridge is anticipated to create a new tourism experience in southern Alberta.

Little Gem Winery’s grand opening is July 7, with staff welcoming guests to visit the first-ever winery in the region.

The launch of this local endeavour not only showcases the bolstering agri-tourism industry, but highlights the flourishing haskap berry grown in Alberta, which is used to create the local wines and ciders.

Tourism Lethbridge said in a news release, “Southern Alberta boasts a rich agricultural heritage, being nestled in Canada’s Premier Food Corridor, and Little Gem Winery exemplifies the spirit of this region.”

“The collaboration between Little Gem Winery and Canada’s Food Tours exemplifies the potential for agri-tourism in Southern Alberta, providing visitors with unforgettable opportunities to explore the region’s vibrant flavors, traditions, and landscapes.”

Over the course of the opening weekend, visitors can experience tours of the orchard and winery, learn about the process behind making the wine, and be treated to samples in the newly-built tasting room.

Families are encouraged to bring their little ones, as children’s entertainment, like a bouncy castle and wagon rides, will be set up.
