Six Mavericks picked for 2023 WCBL all-star game

MEDICINE HAT, AB – Six members of the Medicine Hat Mavericks can add 2023 all-star to their player profile.

Pitchers Kyle Calzadiaz, Dylan Esquival and Dylan Weaver, infielders Brady Bean and Nathan Tarver and outfielder Brody Gardner were chosen to represent the Mavericks at the Western Canadian Baseball League all-star game.

Starter Esquival has thrown 39 strikeouts on his way to a 3-2 record. Calzadiaz and Weaver have been workhorses out of the bullpen, making 13 and 12 appearances, respectively. They’re among the team leaders in ERA as well at 3.68 and 3.04.

Among position players, Bean’s four home runs, Gardner’s .362 batting average and Tarver’s 23 RBIs all lead the Mavericks.
