New managing directors, organizational structure at City Hall

MEDICINE HAT, AB – The City of Medicine Hat has announced two new managing directors and a revamping of its organizational structure.

Pat Bohan has been appointed the managing director of development and infrastructure.

Bohan previously served as interim managing director of the energy and infrastructure division following the departure of Brad Maynes last month. He has previously been the director of environmental utilities and director of city assets since joining the city in September 2020.

“I look forward to bringing to the executive table the perspective I’ve gained from my years working with our unique assets,” says Bohan in a news release. “I am grateful for this opportunity.”

City manager Ann Mitchell expresses confidence in Bohan’s ability to lead the newly formed division into the future and to advance council’s strategic priorities, support staff, and serve the community.

With development and infrastructure becoming a single division, the city now has four divisions: corporate services, development and infrastructure, energy, land and environment, and public services.

Corporate services will continue to be led by managing director Dennis Egert, and Brian Stauth will continue to lead public services. The energy, land and environment division is now headed by managing director Rochelle Pancoast, who was head of the former strategic management and analysis division.

Pancoast says significant work is required to address the energy transition that is facing this community and overall industry as a whole.

“This new structure allows us to focus on the city’s core energy functions within one division while also advancing the city’s land and environmental efforts, she says. “I look forward to collaborating with our team and industry experts to position the city favourably in this time of energy transition.”
