What’s open and closed in Medicine Hat for Canada Day long weekend

MEDICINE HAT, AB – Canada Day is Saturday and with it comes a long weekend of celebration and fun in Medicine Hat.

Here are some businesses in Medicine Hat that are either open or closed during the upcoming long weekend.

The Big Marble Go Centre will be open on Canada Day from 12-5 p.m. Sunday and Monday will operate on regular hours.

Medicine Hat City Hall will be closed for the entirety of the long weekend and will open again on Tuesday.

The Medicine Hat Public Library will be closed Saturday and Sunday, and will reopen on Monday as normal.

Redcliff Library will also be closed Saturday and Sunday and will reopen on Monday as normal.

There will be no transit service on Canada Day nor on Sunday. Service will resume on Monday.

The Esplanade will be closed from Saturday through Monday and reopen on Tuesday.

There will be no garbage pickup on Monday. It will resume on Tuesday in Zone 2.

The city landfill will be closed for the weekend and open again Monday.

Redcliff’s Town Hall will be closed until Monday.

The Cypress County office will be closed from Saturday through Monday and resume normal operations on Tuesday.

The downtown branch of the Medicine Hat YMCA will be closed for Canada Day only and will reopen on Sunday at 10 am.

Medicine Hat Mall will be open for the entire weekend. Saturday they are open from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., Sunday from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Monday from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.

Temperatures are expected to be reach as high as 35 degrees C on Canada Day. Hydration and keeping cool are the best ways to reduce risks of heat stroke and exhaustion.
