MEDICINE HAT, AB – A Medicine Hat student is competing in the National Heritage Fair with a chance to win a Youth Citizenship Award.

CAPE School student Echo Moreton’s research project is about the man who invented the telephone, Alexander Graham Bell.

After the CAPE School Heritage Fair Echo was selected to participate in the Southern Alberta Region competition. She placed in the top five and was recommended to compete in the nationals.

She submitted her application at the end of May and was shortlisted for the public voting stage. Echo is one of only four students in Alberta selected for this stage.

Public voting is open until July 2, and if she wins Echo will receive a Youth Citizenship award and a $500 contribution to her RESP.

Her dad says that Echo told him it doesn’t matter if she wins, the journey was fun and learning something is always a win.

You can vote for Echo and watch her presentation here.
