S3 Group to open up manufacturing plant in Medicine Hat

MEDICINE HAT, AB – A few weeks ago, a mysterious donor generously helped keep Medicine Hat’s Be Youth Centre open. That donor was revealed to be the S3 Group based out of Swift Current, Saskatchewan. Now, the S3 Group has also revealed that it will be expanding into the Medicine Hat area in the near future, helping to provide jobs and help boost the local economy.

S3 Group currently operates five facilities in three locations across North America manufacturing farm equipment and components of farm equipment that is shipped internationally.

S3 Group CEO Richelle Andreas says that Medicine Hat made for a great choice due to it’s great location as well as the job market that the city has.

“We were looking anywhere on Highway 1 between Calgary and Winnipeg. We did labour assessments, we met with city councils, with community partners to try and find the best location for our business and for our market, and we’re really pleased to find a space in Medicine Hat that would work for our needs. Medicine Hat was on a very short list of where we thought we could be successful,” Andreas said on Wednesday.

Andreas says that they will start off small in Medicine Hat and slowly build up over the coming years.

“Initially, we are expecting to hire around 20 to 25 employees. We believe that in the next three to five years, our staffing levels will be around 100 employees,” Andreas added.

The manufacturing plant will be located on 18th Street SW in Medicine Hat and will begin taking in applications in early July. Operations are expected to begin in September when renovations are expected to be complete.
