Stand off in Redcliff

Update 7:15 am Saturday June 17th…RCMP say the event has concluded with one person taken into custody. More details will be released once charges are laid

REDCLIFF, AB–As Redcliff Days got underway in the community, there was a heavy police presence Friday evening.

RCMP say they were responding to a police incident at a residence in the area of 4th Street and 5th Avenue.

Few details are being released but residents were being asked to avoid the area and follow the direction of local RCMP.

Medicine Hat Police were also on scene.

RCMP did not elaborate on the threat but in a release sent just after 8pm Friday indicated that it had been contained and there was no threat to the public.

Multiple police cars and several officers were seen in the area.
