Outdoor pools open for summer season

Jun 2, 2023 | 9:37 AM

MEDICINE HAT, AB – Pool season has officially arrived in Medicine Hat.

Strathcona Pool and Hill Pool are opening today for the summer. Public swim time today at Strathcona is 9 a.m.-7 p.m. At Hill Pool it’s 9 a.m.-noon and 1-7:30 p.m.

The pool schedules for the rest of June can be found on the City of Medicine Hat’s website.

The swim lake at Echo Dale Regional Park remains closed for another month. In May, the city said the liner in the boat lake is compromised and requires repairs, which in turn affects the swim lake. The city expects the swim lake will be open on July 15.

The city has also announced that its 10 water bottle fill stations are now in service after successful water safety testing.

The stations, which are connected to fire hydrants, are spread throughout the city in the downtown core, in parks and along the city’s trail system. The full list is below.

The pilot project was started in 2022 and becomes a permanent seasonal feature starting this year.
