UCP majority elected in Alberta

Alberta has re-elected the United Conservative Party led by Danielle Smith to a majority government.

CHAT News has made the call with 80 per cent of polling stations in the province reporting as of 11:25 p.m. The UCP is leading in 52 of the 87 electoral districts in Alberta, the NDP in the other 35.

Locally, Smith was re-elected in Brooks-Medicine Hat and Justin Wright has been elected in Cypress-Medicine Hat in his first run at provincial politics.

Smith was scheduled to address supporters in Calgary later on Monday evening.
