Mavericks Fan Fest to support mental health, and create lasting memories for fans

MEDICINE HAT, AB – Mavericks Fan fest is quickly approaching, indicating the start of the Western Canadian baseball season.

Director of promotions Nick Wepruk says this year’s Fan Fest will have some new features.

The Mavericks are hosting a dunk-tank fundraiser to raise money for Youth Mental Health Canada. The dunk tank will feature Crescent Heights teachers and principals.

Being mostly aimed at families and children, there will also be bouncy castles, face painting, and live music from a band. Additionally, about 20 Mavericks players will be available to take pictures, sign autographs and connect with the kids.

Wepruk says it’s a great way for local kids to find a player to look up to, and support throughout the season.

“The guys are super great and usually awesome with the kids, so they can definitely have somebody to look up to and then every time we have a game they’re like ‘oh I want to go watch Joe play and, and stuff like that.’ They can have a favorite player and builds more of that connection,” Wepruk explains.

The event is taking place May 24 from 5 to 7pm at Mavericks Athletic Park. Tickets are $5 per person or $10 per family.
