Hatter had ‘a bunch of words’ after winning $100,000 on scratch ticket

MEDICINE HAT, AB – Sharon Wainwright had some fun and treated herself after a large lotto win recently.

“We went out for a nice dinner,” she told the Western Canada Lotto Corporation when claiming her $100,000 prize. “And I went shopping, and for the first time ever, I didn’t look at any of the price tags!”

The Medicine Hat resident won on a Crossword 2X 3X instant ticket purchased at Hat News & Tobacco.

“I had a bunch of words,” she said while claiming her prize in St. Albert. “I counted probably eight times but kept getting different numbers, so I took it to the store to doublecheck the number. I knew I won something, but I didn’t really believe it until I got back to the store. I’m very happy!”

The winner says some of the money will go toward house upgrade, some bills will be paid and some money will be put away.
