Flood training near downtown YMCA on Thursday

MEDICINE HAT, AB – City crews will complete a flood protection training session on Thursday that will cut off access to the YMCA and the Medicine Hat Police Station from River Road.

The session is standard annual procedural training and not related to any perceived or impending threat of flood, says the City of Medicine Hat in a statement. The training will focus on the installation of a specialized flood protection system in the area known as a “flood wall.”

Access to the downtown YMCA and police station will be available from Second Street between Athletic Park and the Medicine Hat Curling Club.

Motorists are asked to follow all detour signage and posted speed limits.
