Woman, child fatally stabbed in Edmonton, suspect shot by police
EDMONTON, AB – Alberta’s police watchdog is investigating an officer-involved shooting following the fatal stabbing of a woman and child in Edmonton.
Police were called to Crawford Plains School shortly before 5 p.m. Friday for reports that a man had stabbed two people outside the building before running off.
When officers arrived, they found the body of a 35-year-old woman and an injured 11-year-old child, who was rushed to hospital but died of their injuries.
Two other responding officers found a man matching the suspect description nearby, and eventually shot the suspect after an altercation.
